90’s Theme Engagement Photos

The 90’s is an era that truly meant the beginning and end of culture in a flash. From DVDs, grunge, hip hop, dial in internet… the fads came and went quickly. That’s why it’s so popular and fun to emulate. With the 90’s theme, just about anything goes from prints like polka dots and plaids to multi-colored shirts with high wasted jeans, folded at the ankle and a pair of Dr. Martens to finish the look. When it comes to the 90’s, pretty much anything goes!

Dwayne Wayne was an iconic character from the show, A Different World, well-known for the flip-up glasses which is still a cultural phenomenon even today. Aaliyah was the world’s young melodic R&B superstar whose lyrics, dance moves, and long silky hair was a 90’s sensation.

In order to pull off a themed engagement photo session, you will want to do a little bit of research. Unless, it’s an era that you’ve lived. A simple internet search and a visit to the local thrift or costume store will beam you into another time period, movie, or TV show. It’s a fun way to play out a character or put your own unique spin on it. For example, Alicia Silverstone from Clueless meets Britney Spears in the video “Baby One More Time” all in one look. How’s that for pop culture inspiration!

Other themed ideas from movies can be: Great Gatsby, Roaring 20s, Harlem Nights, The Notebook, Titanic, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, or even Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Remember, any time that you can have fun and dress up, the party doesn’t have to stop when you leave the photo session. You can stay in character all night long.

Keenan and Crystal started their engagement session downtown near Louisiana Street. We wandered around and found things that really spoke to us.
