Edward Heard Second Shots Photography

My name is Edward Heard. I’m the owner and operator of Second Shots Photography. Though we are based out of Houston Texas, we also serve Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin and Atlanta. We’ve had the privilege of shooting weddings all across the US and to travel abroad as well. We specialize in a blend of Fine-Art and Photo-journalism wedding imagery.

 I fell in love with photography from a very young age. Back in the Polaroid age, you could find in my room photo albums for every family occasion or personal milestone in my life. I remember in college, my mother bought me this $88 point and shoot Canon camera and I went to South Florida on Spring Break. I remember taking hundreds of landscape photos. Most were horrible, but one came out really great. (See below). No one could believe that I took the picture. From that moment forward I was trying to wow people with images. Fast forward a few months and I bought my first DSLR. There were people in my church getting maried and half the time no one was documenting those weddings. So I went to my pastor and asked if he mind if I captured weddings and he said it was okay. I remember my first wedding, I showed up, the bride was all frantic and I was trying to figure out how I could back out of it. Anyone who knows me that I’ll try most anything once and I figured I could muster my way through it. The pressure was immense. I was second guessing myself at every click. When we got to the reception, and the couple did their first dance. You could see all of the pressure was off them and they were totally into the moment. I was too. I fell in love with wedding photography in that moment and never looked back.

 As soon as I started my business, we grew very quickly. We started shooting weddings, because we wanted to document some of the most cherished moments in a couple’s life. There is something quite special when capturing these magical and fantastical events. Indeed, that brings boundless energy to my work. I’m humbled and honored to be a part of the occasion.

Although, I’ve been asked to photograph other events such as birthday parties, bar mitzvahs, and corporate events; it was a personal choice to stick to what brings me the most joy. For me, success is defined by finding what you love to do and then finding a way to make a living doing it. That advice hasn’t failed me yet, so I plan to stick with it. Weddings are my thing! We are moved deeply by genuine emotion and editorial glam.
