Mayde Creek Community Center, Katy Texas | The Secret Garden
When getting the opportunity to photograph at the Mayde Creek Community Center in Katy, Texas I was cautiously excited. I’ve never tried my hand at being at commercial photographer.
I am a wedding and lifestyle photographer first and foremost, but occasionally I will venture outside my box and take on a challenging task. When The Secret Garden at Mayde Creek approached me with an opportunity to do their advertisement images I was quite reluctant. I love leaving these jobs for the people who specialize in this line of photography and have the proper equipment like tilt-shift lenses and are willing to process multiple files in Photoshop and combine multiple exposed images at once. However, I am the preferred photographer for this venue and I wanted to ensure that they got their needs met at an affordable price.
This was my first real shot at doing landscape and architectural style photography. It’s a learning process and it will take a great deal of patience as this job took 4 hours to complete on site and another 4 hours on editing to make sure the images looked their best. I can’t wait to deliver these photos to the governing board tomorrow morning, but I figured I needed to blog about this experience as anytime I do my first with a camera is pretty monumental.
UPDATE:
I delivered the images to the building manager and she was super excited about them. Now, I’ll be doing a presentation at the board meeting next Monday to present the images to all the members of the board. In addition, they will be using me to do more promotional material for their wedding campaigns. Being a preferred vendor for a venue is more than building up clienteles, it’s establishing mutually beneficial relationships that can drive the businesses of two organizations. I’m proud to say that I have delivered on that level.
Enjoy the images.
