Same Sex Antique Store Engagement Session
Darryl + Jarod
Same Sex Antique Store Engagement Session -Five years ago I heard a song on the Pandora radio. At the time, I did not know the impact that it would have on me would be so profound. A true artist has the ability to touch your heart in ways that you cannot explain. Macklemore’s “Same Love” was epically heart felt. For the first time in my adult life I saw one of my paradigms truly shift. I begin to understand that love is truly love. I’m a fan of love. Everyone deserves the right to love whom they wish, and to have their love documented in an authentic fashion.
I wish I could take the credit. Darryl and Jarod actually scouted the antique store as the location for their engagement session. This is not your average backdrop. Taking pictures felt like we were on a movie set with classic vintage appeal. Who needs to props when you have $7,000 lamps and $10,000 sofas at your disposal! I was really nervous to take any false step.
Choosing an antique or furniture store can add an element of sophistication. Say you want to re-create the Renaissance or Baroque period in history. Or perhaps be retro and visit the 70s. You won’t have a difficult time finding the right wall space or furniture to make it work.
Speaking of themes, this couple wanted to showcase the Met Gala which is the kickoff to New York’s Fashion Week. The Met Gala is known for costumes, couture, and high fashion.
The couple tied their style equally to what we would typically see on the red carpet. Darryl’s blazer stood out like a bright star in the dead of night. The jacket with heavy embroidery and rich color scheme is very debonair. Not to be outdone, Jarrod’s crochet style lined short pants were very fashion forward. He paired them nicely with a tuxedo style jacket and bowtie. Both of their looks give off a smooth James Bond finish.
The wanted to have images that spoke volumes without anyone saying a word. I believe they executed nicely.
As always, thanks for reading, Ed.
