Going to downtown Houston to take engagement photos is always interesting.
I love to draw up my shots when I’m scouting a location and to determine how well it will photograph. Occasionally, I’ll bring my sketchpad and pre-draw a pose and composition to help me determine exactly how I would like to use the space. This image came out exactly how I envisioned it, it was framed ideally and everything turned out how I envisioned. As a result, I created a new image that I will put on canvas and display at my next bridal show. Tell me what you think of it.
On this day, the weather was quite humid. However, this was the second location that we went to for the session, and it afforded us the opportunity to shoot in the golden hour. We started out at the Japanese Gardens in Hermann Park. After their early close, we set out to shoot downtown and give a balanced urban feel to the session.
Shawna and Shawn met me at a bridal show a few months back. They were one of the lucky couples to win a free engagement session. Shawna and Shawn met in high school, and that well-developed chemistry was evident in shots like the one featured below. Both Shawna and Shawn were willing to do almost anything and they will have a joyous experience as a result of that. This was the first time that Shawn has dip kissed Shawna and they couldn’t hold back the laughter that’s created from doing this pose.
This shot is something that you’ll see in almost every wedding photographers website, but what makes the execution of this shoot special is the spontaneous element it has, as well as, the scene that is behind it. It was truly a work of art, and did I mention I will be using it at my next bridal session.
A blog of their complete session can be found on the page later as they will have the reveal first. Read more about that strategy here.
